REINT Council 2009/10
The business of the REINT is led by a Council, who guide the strategic direction and policy goals of the REINT. The Council works with the CEO and an experienced management team to achieve beneficial outcomes for the Institute and its members. Each Councillor brings a range of expertise to the Council and offers advice and guidance on specific sectors.

David Loy
President
David began his association with the Real Estate profession in 1984 in Alice Springs where he was the Managing Director Asreal, which he later merged with L J Hooker Alice Springs. David turned his sights on L J Hooker Darwin, which was acquired in 1996.
David has a great depth of experience in sales, property development, valuations, property management and auction services. In 2007 David was appointed, by his peers, 'Admiral' status in the L.J. Hooker network, in recognition of his outstanding ability, drive, enthusiasm and proactive approach to his clients, and development of his team.
David has held the role of President of the REINT since 2004.

David Forrest
Vice President & Southern Delegate
David came to Alice Springs nearly 16 years ago after a 10-year Real Estate career in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. During his time in Melbourne, David completed the academic and practical requirements necessary to qualify for a full Real Estate license. He was granted this license in 1987 and soon became a Partner and Director of his own agency.
David also trained to be an auctioneer and was licensed in 1988. He enjoys conducting auctions whenever the need arises and often serves as an auctioneer for local charity organizations.
David is the current Southern Delegate and Vice President of the Real Estate Institute of Northern Territory and in his spare time enjoys relaxing on the golf course or on his motorbike.

Phil Pethick
Treasurer
Phil transferred to the Territory in 1988 with Westpac Gove and then onto Darwin and like many before him realised Australia's best kept secret and stayed on.
Phil has worked in the real estate industry since 1996 specialising in Property Management and enjoys the many challenges it throws at him.

Morgan Shearer
REIA Delegate / Auction Chapter
Morgan arrived in the NT in 1969 from Adelaide and spent 30 years living and working in Alice Springs. He began his career in Real Estate in 1985 and served as the Southern Delegate of the REINT for 5 years. Morgan was the proud winner of the REINT Auctioneer of the Year in 2000, 2004 & 2006. He is an avid fan of the auction system and has been involved in all aspects of the Real Estate Industry, Morgan is a mad keen golfer and 'fisho'. He has two beautiful daughters both born and bred in the NT and is married to his lovely wife Leanne.

Julie Lewis
Body Corporate Chapter
Julie Lewis is the Managing Director of prestige Body Corporate Management, which has operated in Darwin since 2007. Julie has been in the field of body corporate management since 1998. Julie originally hails from Tasmania where she was born and raised. She later travelled to the east coast of Australia with her husband and children and arrived in Darwin in 1991. Julie also lectures at the REINT on Body Corporate Management.

Carol Need
Education
Carol has been a in the real estate industry in Darwin for approx 16 years. Carol is a fully licensed agent who owns a small property management portfilo. Carol is a Work Place Trainer and Assessor who has been involved with the REINT education since 1999 working along side the REINT training managers. Carol along with Alison O'Neill attends other Tenancy working groups representing the industry at various forums and meetings.

Matthew Knight
Commercial Chapter
Matthew has an extensive property background in the private sector. Since completing a Bachelor of Business in Property in 1995, Matthew moved to Darwin where he has worked in Commercial and Industrial Real Estate for the past 13 years.
After working with Knight Frank for 2 years the owner/Managing Director of the business took up an offer from Knight Frank Australia to move to New Zealand and Matthew was offered and accepted the position of Managing Director of Knight Frank Darwin. Matthew has now been in this role for 30 months.

Colleen Byrne
Councilor
Colleen has been a resident of Alice Springs for 32 years. Colleen owned her own business for 10 years, winning several awards including Rising Star Small Business Award in the US, and in 2003 the N.T. Telstra Small Business Micro Award. After deciding on a new career in Real Estate and completing her Certificate IV in Real Estate, Colleen enjoys her position as Senior Residential Property Manager and is a member of the L J Hooker Captains Club.
